Fernanda Penna «The Legend of Amantalia»

Афиша АртМедиа3In a village in the heart of the Amazon, there lived Thainá, a strong and warrior indigenous woman.
One day, she fell in love with Amon, a young man who lived in the city, but her parents did not allow the relationship because the young man was white, as they called those who are not indigenous and live in the city. The village elder warned Thainá about the romance, that a tragedy would happen if they stayed together, but she ignored the elder’s advice.

Thina did not accept it and found the young man hidden from her parents.
Both, very much in love, swore their love and promised each other never to be separated, no matter what.

One day, Thainá and Amon met to bathe in the river and pick some fruits from the forest. They walked to another place on the other side of the bank, where they usually stayed, got into the water and started playing by throwing water at each other, when suddenly, Amon became serious, began to struggle and could not move from the spot. He felt as if something was holding his leg and Thaina tried to help him, but something very strong pulled him down and he began to drown. No matter how hard Thaina tried, she could not save her love and Amon’s face disappeared under the waters of the river.

Thina was heartbroken and cried non-stop.

Days passed and she went to the riverbank every day hoping for a miracle to happen, because they had promised each other that they would be together forever.

One beautiful moonlit night, she went to the riverbank and sat on the bank. The full moon illuminated the calm waters and she saw her reflection in the water. Her sad expression gradually ceased to be reflected and gave way to a familiar image. It was Amon!

He smiled underwater, his expression serene and happy, and waved to her. Without thinking about anything else, happy to be reunited with her beloved, Thainá jumped into the water and the two embraced in an aquatic ballet and slowly disappeared into the bottom of the river.

The next day, a flower appeared in the water, an exotic flower never seen before, with a double stem that intertwined like the arms and legs of lovers in an eternal embrace. Its petals grew in pairs, mirrored, resembling human curves, soft and complementary, the texture velvety and the perfume exuded a mixture of sweetness and warmth, like the sigh of a kiss. They gave her the name Amantalia, because she could never be picked, living eternally lying on the waters of the river.
